What to wear

Dress Code

  • Welcome DinnerSmart casual

    Light, breathable clothing. It will be a warm evening.

  • Ceremony & ReceptionBlack tie

    Tuxedos for the gentlemen. Floor length gowns or elegant cocktail dresses for the ladies.

  • Recovery BrunchBeach or brunch

    Something comfortable for lounging by the pool.

  • Heels on grass. The reception is on a lawn, so leave the stilettos at home. Wedges or flats work best.
  • Hot and humid. Samui stays warm even at night. Choose light, breathable fabrics.
  • Colours. Please avoid white or very pale shades at all events.

Samujana

A hillside estate above Choeng Mon, about 10 minutes from Samui Airport. The ceremony is at Villa 24 and the reception on The Big Lawn.

Getting there

Travel

Fly direct to Samui

Samui International Airport (USM) has direct flights from Bangkok and a few regional cities such as Singapore. January is peak season, so book early.

The scenic route

Fly into Surat Thani (URT), then take a combined bus and ferry to the island. Allow around 3 to 4 hours.

Before you fly

Check the visa rules for your passport, and complete the free Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) online in the 3 days before you land. Rules can change, so check again closer to the date.

Airport to hotel

Samujana is about 10 minutes from the airport. Most hotels and villas can arrange a pickup, or use Grab or the airport taxi desk.

Getting around

Download the Grab app (Thailand's Uber) and add your card before you arrive. Staying up a steep hill? Check that Grab can reach you. Your villa can always book a taxi.

On the wedding day

Shuttles will run to and from the venue. Pick up details to follow. Driving yourself? Allow extra time, as island traffic can vary.

A short drive away

Booking a villa or Airbnb? Check access with your host first. Some properties sit on very steep hills and need a 4x4 or SUV.

Island Tips

Stay connected

Airalo eSIM, or an AIS or TrueMove SIM from the airport or any 7-Eleven.

Money

Thailand uses the baht (THB). ATMs and exchange booths are everywhere, including most 7-Elevens.

Tipping

Not expected, but appreciated for great service. Around 10%, or rounding up fares, is customary.

Water

Tap water isn't drinkable. Bottled water is sold everywhere, so keep sipping in the heat.

Mosquitoes

Pack repellent (any 7-Eleven sells it). They're busiest inland and in gardens around sunset.

Health

Travel insurance is strongly recommended. The island has pharmacies and international hospitals.

Weather

Expect around 27 to 31°C with warm evenings. January is usually drier, but pack a small umbrella.

Plugs

220V. Most sockets take two flat or two round pins, so bring a universal adapter.
